Happy Earth Month!
This is my message to the Earth, to you and to myself.
The Earth provides us with everything that we need. She takes care of us without us even asking. She is the mother of all of us…
However, we have been hurting her so much that now she is struggling to give us back what we need.
We are destroying the forests and the ocean. We are polluting the air. We make so much noise, that hearing the other living things became a challenge and a privilege to some lucky ones.
So this is my plea to you on behalf on the Earth and as a citizen of the Earth:
Make less noise and listen to how hurt the Earth is. If you focus enough, you will hear her pain.
You will notice that there are less birds, less fish, less bees, and so on..
Educate yourself on the products that you use.
A few questions on on a regular product: shampoo. How does your shampoo bottle get to you? What are the chemical in your shampoo? Are those chemicals bad for the environment during production and after usage when it goes down the drain into rivers, lakes and ocean? Where does the plastic shampoo bottle go? How does the used bottle affect the Earth?
Learn about the vegan movement and implement as much as you can in your lifestyle.
I am not saying become fully vegan, but read about the effect and causes that the meat industry or the fashion industry have on the Earth. Find ways to reduce your part in it.
Find brands that are sustainable and eco-friendly.
We got used to that specific type of product or that brand. Now, how do we change that? I get it. Believe me, it was hard for me too. But it had to be done, cause we’ve caused enough damage already. It’s those little steps that we help us save the planet we stand on.
Declutter your mailbox.
All those promotion emails from all your favorite brands, different marketing website and newsletters, yes those! Aside from the fact that a regular email generates about 4g of CO2 emission, the storage of those emails is not eco-friendly either. According to The Good Planet, if every person only deleted 10 of their spam emails, they could save 1,725,000 gigabytes of storage space and around 55.2 million kilowatts of power. So review your subscriptions and unsubscribe if you are not interested anymore. Plus use the different mail cleaning apps to delete your spam folder.
Find yourself cute, classy water bottles that are better for the world than buying plastic bottles.
Stop using plastic at the groceries store, buy re-usable shopping bags
I am sure you’ve heard this one from primary school: Switch off the lights or plug when not in use and turn off the tap when you brush your teeth..
These are just some ways on how you can help.
Can you surrender to the Earth? How can you help the Earth?
